Anyone who knows me knows I’m a bit of a dog fan. Just a little. So needless to say when I got to see these new born pups…I was in heaven. And of course I had to bring my camera. ;)

scotland, part two…highlands & isle of skye

The first part of our trip to Scotland was really amazing. Little day trips through Dunbar and East Lothian were really beautiful and I enjoyed every minute. But I have to say, our trip up through the Highlands and Isle of Skye left me speechless. It is so majestic and peaceful up there. The colder, misty air belongs to the area and you really feel a sense of how small you are.

Like I said before, we didn’t go in high tourist season, so most places we had to ourselves. And while the grass hadn’t quite turned green yet and the winds howled through the valleys, it didn’t take anything away from what an amazing place this is.

…it is really no wonder to me why the Scots are so proud of their little corner of the world.

scotland, part one

· March 15, 2013 · 10:48 am · Landscape, Personal, Travel, , , , ,

Scotland has always held a special place in my heart. It was the very first country I visited outside of the US. It is the home to a very dear friend of mine and it was amazing to see where he grew up. Fast forward nine years later, I was able to visit Scotland again with my husband and some great friends and remember why I really love this country.

We spent the first part of our trip exploring the area where my friend grew up in Dunbar and East Lothian. We rented a small cottage and drove around exploring ruins, castles, coastlines, small towns, and pubs (naturally). We spent one sunny day walking through the old streets of Edinburgh and the castle above the city. Although it was still pretty chilly here in March, there were practically no tourists and we really had so many places to ourselves.

…needless to say, it was a pretty amazing trip.

We spent last week traveling around the beautiful country of Scotland with some very dear friends and while the weather wasn’t always ideal, we had an absolute amazing time. Looking forward to sharing some more photos soon…but for now a little preview of our trip up to the Isle of Skye.
