Scotland has always held a special place in my heart. It was the very first country I visited outside of the US. It is the home to a very dear friend of mine and it was amazing to see where he grew up. Fast forward nine years later, I was able to visit Scotland again with my husband and some great friends and remember why I really love this country.
We spent the first part of our trip exploring the area where my friend grew up in Dunbar and East Lothian. We rented a small cottage and drove around exploring ruins, castles, coastlines, small towns, and pubs (naturally). We spent one sunny day walking through the old streets of Edinburgh and the castle above the city. Although it was still pretty chilly here in March, there were practically no tourists and we really had so many places to ourselves.
…needless to say, it was a pretty amazing trip.
