2016 was an interesting year. A lot of good mixed in with some bad. It was a bit of a roller-coaster. Looking back through photos of the year is always therapeutic for me though…reminding me of all the good times. I am very much looking forward to some new adventures in 2017! Cheers to everyone I had the pleasure of working with this year and to all my friends and family. May this year be filled with love, laughter, and new memories.

Here are some of my favorite moments (personally and professionally) from this year!

I have to make a confession. I don’t particularly love to shoot weddings. I love weddings, don’t get me wrong. I am a hopeless romantic, so I love all that…but photographing them is a whole ‘nother story. I get stressed out. My perfectionist personality takes over the rational voice in my head and usually once per wedding, I freak out. I give a lot of credit to the amazing photographers out there who do this on a weekly basis.

So with all that being said, while shooting the actual wedding almost gives me a heart attack, editing the photos is all together different. As I sat here in the comfort of my office, knowing all photos were safe and sound on my computer (and backed up) I could relax into really seeing how the day had played out. How much love was shown in every photo of these two. How much I really love being able to give these photos to my friends and know they will look back on them for the rest of their lives.

That is really what makes me happy. I love you guys. Thank you for letting me be a part of your very special day.

christmastime already…

· November 16, 2012 · 4:59 pm · Events, Travel, , , , , , , , ,

I see it everywhere already…it seems as though here in the US Christmas is pushed at you right after Halloween. What happened to Thanksgiving people?? Anyhow, moving on. Even though Munich winters leave something to be desired for me as far as weather goes, there is one thing I am looking forward to… that festive month leading up to the Christmas holiday.

Gluhwein, holiday markets, Tollwood, and downtown decorations really make that month of December quite bearable. Cities all around Europe decorate for the holiday season, but in my humble opinion, the Germans and Austrians really do things up right. For the weeks leading up to Christmas, it’s like a little holiday wonderland in these areas and I love it.

This year will be only my second time being in Munich for the holiday season, so I am looking forward to capturing a bit more of the festivities. Here are a couple of my favorites from Munich and around!

live…

One of the things I missed most when I moved to Munich was hearing live music. Not that there isn’t any here…but it’s definitely harder to find. There are some truly talented people out there playing in bars around the globe, and I’m always excited when I get to hear one of them while enjoying a cider with friends. I mean…what could be better?

Anyways, while back in Florida I photographed a friend of mine who was playing in local bar and while the lighting situation definitely presented some difficulties, I managed to get a few good shots. I did take a couple photos using a flash, but found that I preferred the ones without. I cranked up the ISO and made use of the light that was there.

Danny is actually playing again this weekend at a local Seafood festival in Bradenton if you are anywhere in the area….definitely go check him out!
